The first thing to consider before you do one of these detox diets is that the science of a detox diet has not been proven. Medical science sees no evidence that the body requires a detox. The human body is perfectly capable of handling all toxins and that undergoing a detox diet is an unhealthy way to quickly lose weight. 2. Lack of Calories

The real reason people lose so much weight on a 7 day detox diet is that they remove a large portion of their daily calorie intake. A detox diet functions by replacing all solids you eat with a special drink concoction. This is why it works because you are starving yourself for a week straight.
