- There is a tendency to develop repeated infections of the vagina and vulva, and is usually fungal in nature. The fungal infections may arise elsewhere too like on skin or throat.
- The weight gain during pregnancy is beyond the expected levels.
What are the common complications of diabetes in pregnancy?
- The baby may be born with excessive weight and is often beyond 9 pounds of weight.
- The baby can present with low blood sugar as soon as it is born.
- The baby may present with jaundice at birth
- There is a high possibility of the baby suffering from respiratory distress syndrome at birth.
- There is high risk of stillbirth and the baby dies within the uterus after about 28 weeks of gestation
- The baby can die in early infancy
